On May 18, the Harney County Sheriff’s Office presented Burns High School senior Merissa Medley with a certificate of completion of the Harney County Sheriff’s Office Justice Services Internship.

Since January, Medley has been interning with local criminal justice agencies to learn about each area. This included 911 Dispatch, Civil Service, Circuit Court, Patrol, Justice Court, the Juvenile Department, the District Attorney’s Office, Parole & Probation, and Corrections.

Medley was able to use the radio, go on ride-a-longs, witness traffic stops, conduct field visits, process paperwork, enter data, observe drug testing, learn about investigations, observe in the jail, learn about the court systems, and more.

The Sheriff’s Office would like to thank Medley for having a great attitude, drive, and motivation to learn and wish her the best as she moves on to her next adventure!
